Arbor Creek Students Shine in District Band Try-Outs

2012 October 19

ACMS students selected for the LISD District Bands.

Hundreds of LISD middle school band students came together last weekend for the LISD All-District Band tryout. Twenty-six of the students selected for the Symphonic Band, Concert Band or Alternate attend Arbor Creek Middle School (ACMS). About 200 students are selected for the bands, and with alternates, the total rises to 214.

“We are so proud of our talented students and their hard work,” ACMS Band director Martin Nelson said.

In the trumpet auditions, for example, 120 students competed for only 18 spots in the District Bands. Two ACMS students earned top honors. Becca Muncy and Bailey Ray were selected as first chair overall.  That means that the judges determined that they were the best musicians on their instrument in the whole district.
